I see and experience this forum like a personal AA.

If I cannot log in and snoop around or contribute where requested at least once per day, I get itchy feet, trembling fingers and general grumpiness tends to take over.

The Forum (or perhaps more the lack of it) has this effect on me - and I can only guess, many others as well?

    Hi Everyone!

    I'm Colin.

Currently living in Phalaborwa, but moving to Nelspruit indefinately by the End of november.

    While I have previously owned a "little" 4 x 4 (Daihatsu terios MK1), I have never owned any other 4 x 4, but have driven a few belonging to others... (1988 Landrover defender 110 V8, and a 1998 Toyota Landcruiser VX - 4.2l diesel)
I am more a motorcycle type of guy but recognize the neccessity of owning a 4 x 4 or 4 x 2. (active on www.sascooters.co.za)

Soon I will be traversing plenty Dirt roads, farm roads, etc, so will need to get a suitable 4 x 4 or 4 x 2, but now have a slight problem...which one?
It must be an Automatic!!! (An active Amputee...thats why
Petrol / Diesel, doesnt matter, though prefer diesel.

(Mainly because you can store diesel for long periods, while petrol "Verslaan").

    I have a short list...Ford ranger 4.0 V6 A/T D/C , Mazda, or Isuzu KB300LX D - TEC, A/T D/C.
I have a suicidal tendency towards the Isuzu...
I have not checked the km's yet but the mere fact that its a timing chain motor is magic!

Would I be making a mistake?

We have just joined and don't even know how to post a message. Even though we are newbies, it would be helpful if somebody can help us. We are planning a trip to Tanzania and need to ask some advise. Let's see what kind of response I get from this message

    Welcome Fred.

This isn't the right place!! Go back to the home page by clicking on SA Community Forum in the top LH corner below the logo. Then, scroll down to the Overlanding section, and click on Tanzania.

When you have that section open, simply click on the "New Thread" button (a blue button above the list of thread titles), and start writing!

    Default Cape Town to Tanzania

We are planning to travel to Tanzania and would not like to re-invent the wheel. Can you perhaps help with suggestions regarding visas, documents, inoculations and the do's and dont's. We are traveling with a VW Combi, T4 4x4 Diesel with raised suspension. Hannibal tent on the roof. Camping as we go.
We are planning to leave on about 25 September to return end of October 2011. Also looking for a traveling partner on the return trip.

    Default New

    Hey All,

I guess I'm new to the site again. Re registered recently as i could not find my old profile which i last used about a year ago.
This is a great forum and I've already learned plenty from the members prior to buying my 4x4 and will definately learn more as time goes on, purely because of the enthusiam shown by the members on this forum. (keep up the good work)

Recently I purchased a Ford Ranger 2500TD 4x4 Supercab and i'd like to add that she is everything I had dreamed of and more (I think i made a good choice). Now i need to learn what she is really capable of doing.

Thank you and you will hear from me soon.
