There is better options on the market! 600kg empty is rediculous!

He is still looking at the different options available, but it looks like he might be better of buying a different make.

Go for Echo or Conqueror - solid reputation, long lists of options, far less weight.

Jurgens should stick to what they do best - caravans!

Anything else on the market for R35 000-00, or only the xt140?

Looks solid enough. Doew anyone here own one. I am looking around, but would like something solid, but basic, that I can "pimp" when I have $$$ to do so.

I bought a Jurgens XT140 and I'm very impressed. I believe it's excellent value for money. I fitted a Howling Moon tent. I also fitted a drawer system, 12v & 220v system. See attached pictures. The whole setup still costs less than R70 000.00. This includes the dual battery system and Waeco 80L fridge.

The Mission trailer is nice, I WANT ONE - but it only has 400Kg payload compared to the 800Kg (if memory serves me) of the XT140

XT120 has 600KG payload and XT 75 something stupid like 265Kg.

if you can load almost a ton and teh 600kg empty wight includes jerry cans and a few other things taht are included in the R36k

The total weight of the XT 140 is 600kg. Then add the following :
    1) Tent 90kg
    2) 2 X 40l water tanks 80kg
    3) 2 x Full Jerry Cans 50kg
    4) 2nd Battery 30kg
    5) Drawer System 15kg
    6) Fridge/Freezer 20kg

Total weight before packing food, other camping gear etc = 885kg.
By the time you are fully packed, I would say, you are looking at close to a ton.

For myself, I must have at least 400kg available in a trailer, simply because I need to load all the above mentioned. The Jurgens then have another 400kg available for whatever (extra beer perhaps?)

I tow with a V8 Discovery 3. Considering what you drive, you can also easily manage. All depends where you are off to.

Off to Serengeti in 2011, thus 400kg payload not going to cut it.

i like the XT140. will have a look at Uys's COnquest at the GTG and then decide what i am going to do.

So much money, so many options .......SO LITTLE TIME!!!!!!! I WISH

    Thumbs up Troopy

Hi there. I don't know, I've just bought myself a XT140, and is extremely happy with it. Yes it is a little bit on the heavy side, but the durability is outstanding. This is my second product from the Jurgens Safari range, and to be honest, I'll never look at something else. Finishing and quality in the Explorer is just incomparable to anything else out there, and I expect the XT140, to live up to the same standards.

I think you can do much better for R70K. I bought my conquest for R30k, and after the kitchen, tent and electrical system I'll almost be a t R60k.

    I can buy a friend's XT 75 for R15 grand.

Is that a bargain? - Done about 3000km, looks brand new.

I tow my XT140 with full load comfortably at 100 - 110 km/h with the Hilux. Full load includes filled water tanks, Howling Moon RTT, jerry cans, 2 gas bottles fitted at the back etc etc etc . May be able to even tow faster but does not want to as I am on holiday when towing the XT!

One or 2 small issues such as low water outlets but easily fixed with 12 V pump and wind coming through between lid and RTT specially during winter time. Also easy to fix with home made cover.

Good quality all round. Does not agree with Conqueror pricing as advertised price excludes VAT, wheels et al! Maybe if you buy 2 nd hand but Swambo does not do 2nd hand trailers and XT40 is in my opinion best value for money.
