    Default TPMS price

    Good afternoon all
Does anyone have any experience with aftermarket Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems?
Those that do, have you ever had any of the sensors fail, causing loss of air pressure?
    Recommended brand and supplier?
    Approximate cost?
    Thanks in advance.

I bought the Tyredog brand in Australia - lasted one overland trip and became unreliable and gave faulty readings!

Photo of the actual sensors please?

Or are they mounted inside the tyre?

These screw-on units- do they affect the balance of the wheel? What about the centrifugal force on the valve stem, will the valve be happy being pushed against the rim?

I bought a unit with sensor for my csr/traler/sparewheels from Abraham this week. Tireguard system recommended on this forum. Abraham recommend fitting shorter rubber valve stems for offroad use. He also supply a round rubberfoam that can be fitted around the valve to avoid it hitting the rim.

    No.

I got the Tiregaurd from Abraham. With 6 external sensors for R2150 if I remember correctly. 4 for the vehicle and two for the trailer. Works like a charm. The batteries for the sensors are not readily available, CR1632. Available from some Buiders Warehouse security section and Takealot. I got some extra spares in the cubbyhole.

Tireguard: Those batteries in the sensors last more than a year. The monitor (recharge-able from socket inside the car) last more than a month.
    Tireguard works well.

I also bought this one through Takealot. Had issues with my first unit and the owner of TyreCare got involved and sent me a new unit, excellent service!

Unfortunately i have the same issue now as with the first unit, one tyre does not always update even after 1 hourís drive. I like speed and realized the one tyre does not update when i drive fast (bite me), when i tow my caravan (max 120km/h) all four wheels update as they should.

I guess you get what you pay for.

I got a similar but older version for 6 wheels from Amazon UK. The batteries last about 9 to 12 months and are easy to replace. I had to recode one sensor but other than that it's working well. I did alert me to a slow puncture that I wasn't aware of and maybe saved me the tyre but the peace of mind of monitoring the caravan's tyres while on the road is the real benefit.

I just picked up since 1632 batteries from battery centre in Pmb. I also bought a repeater in case the sensors did not all pickup (tyre guard), but it was it necessary
