    Default Credit worthy reports

I need, from time to time, to do credit checks on companies wanting to do business with us.

Which are the companies that are still able to do proper and good checks.
I just want to povide the name of the company , how much credit over how many days, and then wait for a go/no go report..
How difficult is that?? In the old days "Robertsons Reports" were a good company but they are now called Inoxio and are bloody useless.
    Who are you using?
Am I expecting too much (7 days and only a prelim report with no credit rating on the company in question).

Try searching credit check, you get a million companies all offfering a free personal credit check... Ja, tells you everything, and nothing, about where we are as a nation at the moment.

Rant over, any advice on who to use would be appriciated.

We use Searchworks - for around R45 they give you a full report combining Transunion, Experian and some smaller ones.

For added fees you can get court documents etc as well.

CGIC, also known as Credit Guarantee. Our company uses them for over 30 years.

We have been their very first clients.

Trans union provides a very detailed report, but at R245 per report, it does get a bit pricy.... Depending on the value of the business

Umm, for R250 000 then i am happy to pay a few grand, which these clowns are charging me, but still no report.
I have been well and truly had, which does not happen to often to me.

You ask for your bank to do a Banker's Report on them. You will have to supply your bank with their banking details, the proposed amount and the period of the proposed credit. It will cost you some money, but about their pricing I cannot comment.

Your bank will then contact their bank who will supply you bank with the report.

Years ago when I worked in a bank branch you could expect something like this back:

    Banker's Report on XYZ company.

This company is good for credit of R250,000 for a period on 180 days.

    Client's Bank Name
Signed by an official of the issuing bank.
