Default 8 Seater experiences and suggestions

    i Guys

I recently doubled up my children with twins, and the Fortuner is becoming a hassle to get into and out of with car seats, safety belts etc.

I need to upgrade to a bus, and would consider the Ford Tourneo, Hyndai H1, Kombi and possibly the V-class Mercedes. Any other options I can look at?

I don't want to spend almost R1M n a Caravelle, although it would be very nice. My budget is R600K. I might consider trading the Fortuner when going over R600K.

For what it offer, the Tourneo is well priced, but the manual transmission is a downside, as my driveway is steep and curved, and with a vehicle this size, SWAMBO may struggle.

    Any experience or suggestions?

We have friends with an H1 and they just love it, 170k km and no hassles at all, (they have 5 kids) they regularly go camp in Kruger with all family loaded and trailer hooked( small venter) and I have never heard any complaints about lack of power.

In our lift club we use both VW Kombi and H1, I found Hyndai Bus seats NOT comfortable, its like you are sitting at the back of the double cab, VW Kombi is very very comfortable

Kombi. The transporters don't have aircon for the back. Haven't seen any that do anyway.

We had a Kia Sedona that my wife loved. Probably get a good deal on a newish one for the budget you have?

They are very nice to live with.

    Ive bought a 2012 Merc Viano 3.0 V6 CDI a year ago with only 40 000km (now on 50 000km) for R570000.
Very nice interior layout with table etc and the V6 diesel is absolutely amazing. My kids love this bus.
    Also a option to consider.

A friend of mine has a Transporter. 140K km on it now. He absolutely loves it.

Rubber instead of carpeting inside, punchy 2.5 TDi engine and there is also an option of a slight suspension lift without affecting warranty (I was told). This is what I'd buy.
