    Default 12v pump/compressor

I had quite a range of pumps, even have one with a double head, pumps one wheel and switches off because of heat. Cheap 4x4 pumps take 2 hours to pump 6 wheels. What do you have? Will you buy it again? What options are there? It must be reliable, I think I had enough.

    Get a 160L/min.
They are available from Makro...Midas ...4x4 direct etc.
Have a Midas one that is working perfectly to pump tyres from .5 barr up to 2.3 barr in no time.

I had one of those 160lr/min compressors from Makro/Midas/etc.

Do yourself a favour and buy the ARB, mount it in your engine bay and never look back.

Best money you will ever spend on a compressor.

Yup, my Midas / Makro little compressor does a great job of inflating to about 2.3 bar in no time. 2.5 bar takes a few hours for four wheels and never gets close to 2.8. I've now donated it to my sister for use on her Vitara.

You'll understand why you pay the extra on ARB. What a breeze on the road if you need to get going. Will never buy anything else.

Exact same thing as the 160L/min you get from 4x4direct/Makro/Midas/Adendorff for more than double the price.

ARB is expensive yes, but it is so nice not to wait forever pumping up tyers and they do last a long time. For me it was about reliability when in need, one always gets dropped when the most in need with these sort of things. And I just don't like to battle ......

Install it under the bonnet and forget about it.

ARB twin is very awesome but pricey. You can run air tools off it if needs be, pretty cool.

I have a ARB single standard compressor and it works just fine, even use it on the farm to pump up tractor tyers.
Previouse ARB was 9 years old and sold it with my vehicle.

I had a Thomas in my 2 Landies for 18 years and it never missed a beat. The specs said that it delivered 30 l/m but it outperformed many units delivering 160 l/m at 0 bar, 80 l/m at 0.5 bar, 40 l/m at 1 bar and just about nothing at 2.5bar ...

Never had a problem with it overheating or thermal cut-outs and often pumped up the tyres of more than one vehicle on the go.

I've now had a 72 l/m ARB in my Isuzu for 2 years, and it has not missed a beat to date.

Buy the best you can afford. The number on the box does not always depict the whole story and many manufactures calculate the volume by multiplying the displacement of the unit with its rpm. You will never be able to displace the volume of the cylinder and the rpm can drop dramatically as the pressure goes up.

I have one of their spray painting diaphragm compressors, it's over 40yrs old and it's been absolutely hammered and it still works perfectly, amazingly robust.
