    Thumbs up Helderberg 4x4 Trail

So we went to the Helderberg 4x4 Trail on Tuesday 1st May 2018.

From what i could see online it looked like it might have been a bit boring, but we actually had a thoroughly enjoyable day out.

The trail cost R200 per vehicle, with a additional R200 deposit for the gate key (you get this back at the end of the trail). They take cash or cards and supply you with a detailed colour map.

The map shows 2 colour routes, Red (Hard) and Blue (Easy), that intersect each other as you make your way up the mountain. On the trail itself these are clearly marked and very easy to navigate.

We were warned at the beginning that due to the rains recently the red route could be a little extreme as it was still wet. Sounded like more fun to us

We could see a few places where the rains had washed through the ruts etc, but it was a really enjoyable drive, it was a little slippery in places but the mud terrains really showed their worth.

the viewing sight at the top offers stunning scenery of False Bay but i wouldn't stop there to picnic, rather continue back down the trail until you see a sign for the damn. Great place to stop and have a bite to chow.

Some pics of the trip below, note these are all on the Red routes. I dont advise taking the blue route as its just a gravel road.

Dang, I didn't know there was a cool dam there. Now I'll need to go back.
