    Default Home Coffee Machines

So I am in the market for a home coffee machine.

It must be a bean to cup machine
Will be making 2 - 3 cups of coffee a day

Can anyone recommend a good option for this.

Budget is not endless, however a plunger is not really an option any longer.
So something that will give us good service and that is easily maintained in RSA

    thanks

Budget is your ultimate question here

There is lots of units out there for different prices

Personally if I had R9000 available to buy a nice on for my house it would be this
    Delonghi magnifica
You can get the more expensive models but this one works well and is capable of adjusting amounts
    https://www.takealot.com/delonghi-ma...BoCAgUQAvD_BwE

But that said this is not a cheap version for home coffee machine

I use one of these at a office and it has worked fine without issues for 5 years now.
and this one is used daily by multiple people

Only issue is it does not have refrigeration function for the milk container
So the milk goes bad quickly if you do not remove the container and put it in the fridge

We got ourselves one of the Breville machines from @home...

Best thing we ever did, can't compare it to some of the others though.

    oh one thing
If you just want coffee with no Chicano option

This Delonghi also works but if you want frothed milk then you have to use the Frother yourself

Heard that the Jura machines are the bomb....however starting at R10k.

I have spoken to a crowd that service coffee machines and they recommend the Delonghi ESAM 4500 range, starting at about R8k

Based on price the ESAM 2200 range seems quite competitive....this may be an option as will only be for home use

has anyone had experience with Saeco machines?

You can find decent bargains on Gumtree sometimes. Make sure to have it serviced after buying.

We have a separate grinder and coffee machine and love the setup but it doesn't play in the same price league as the machines mentioned above.

Really impressed with it. Keep an eye on gomboom, I bought mine 2nd hand for half the price and it had made a total of 7 cups of coffee

I have had a Saeco in my office for about 8 years. Baby machine, does about 8-10 cups daily.

It was serviced by the agents and not used for about 1 year, only to discover it now leaks!

I have taken it camping, and it is one tough little beast, but getting service is difficult.

Jura....Look for an older Jura F50, spares still available, a service costs R650, they are relatively inexpensive and they work endlessly.

I paid R3000 for mine, it had only made 850 cups of coffee...Yes, it keeps score!

My family is in the coffee business so Ive tried them all, from R1500 to R150 000 machines.
But for everyday use I use two smaller ones.
My one model is not available anymore but this one makes very nice ordinary coffee as well as excellent espressos and a beautiful cappuccino.
It sells for just under R6000:

Milk frothing works 100% even though it only has one boiler.
I set the boiler temperature a bit hotter than the factory setting in the menu settings and all is good.
Its not a big machine so the water and bean containers are not massive but for the price we just love the machine.

The problem with this type of budget/entry level machine is that you get what you pay for.All the cheap machines only have one hopper for the beans which is there downfall. If you decide you like say a darker roast but wife wants light roast beans then the budget machines are just not going to work. The better machines have 2 or more hoppers so you can load your choice of beans.
