There's a big parking area with guards I seem to remember.

Make sure you plan your visit.
There are allot of shows eg Dolphins, seals, penguins, shark feeding etc. They are are all included in the aquarium entrance fee. It's not cheap, but if you plan so that you can see all the events it's actually pretty good value for money.
And yes, safe paid parking at the main entrance (opposite side of the beach)

We love it and is one of our must stops every year we go down there.

Try and be there at opening time to get maximum value.

When we were there end of August it was R180 p/p if you do just aquarium or water park but something like R220 p/p for both. We usually do the aquarium first and after the dolphin show at 11:00 or 12:00 move over the the water park.

Just go and stand for a while at the bottom of those long steep water slides and look at the bikini wearing members of society coming down there flying right out of their little pieces of swimwear....worth your money spent over and over.

In the same league as seaworld in Florida just on a smaller scale. It is a bit pricey but well worth the money and as you are already there do everything on offer , snorkeling , bell diving ,and I think it`s acra branch , all extras to pay for and all I would give a miss is the shark cage diving . Try and get there early and hire a locker at the water park side as they get full quite quickly to leave your bags etc in as you can go between the parks all day and buy food in the mall at Wimpy etc.

Did it with the kids last year. Previously we only did the Aquarium, this time we decided to add the water park as well.
The water park has an option of booking a roped off area with recliners, waiter, locker to store your stuff and things to use on the slides. Did this for the afternoon (they have a half day and full day option) and must say that it made the experience a whole lot better as it gives you some privacy and a place to keep your things safe.
If we go back we'll do it all again.

I think Ushaka is better than the Two Oceans aquarium in Cape Town.

Yes, it's definitely worth a visit!
We went there last year this time.

We took the full package, where you get access to the aquarium, water rides and children play area. There is a fixed water gun in the childrens play area that the children (or parents) can spray water on those drifting past on tubes. Great fun to watch them scream! Ghegheghe

The free dolphin and seal shows are also great. Go early and get great parking right in front of the place.

The wild coast sun had better rides for me, but the rides are still pretty awesome at ushaka. Its nice to drift past the shark tank on a tube! Take lots of sunscreen, and eat breakfast before going. The food stalls were a bit dissappointing.

I love Durban. Even went for a swim amongst the masses on the main beach, which was fun! I litterally had to wait for someone to get out of the water so that there was space to get in between the flags.

The gates open by 9am but its worth while to get there early because finding a good spot to sit with your family is difficult when it's busy. There are also lockers available to store your valuables so that you don't have to leave someone behind to mind your stuff while everyone is having fun in the park.

Also it's worth knowing that you are not allowed to take in your own food or drinks in unless it's for infants. There are plenty of vendors to buy food and drinks from inside the park and you are allowed to go out the gates and come back in on the same day say to go have lunch at one of the many restaurants in the retail section. Park closes at 6pm.

There are various combo tickets available but it's well worth it to get the all access tickets that let you go in to dangerous creatures section that is up top by the retail section. Staff are friendly and they will even let you handle some of the animals if you want.

Hope that helps, have an awesome time at uShaka.
