    Default Advice: Calvinia to Ceres

    Hi

I want to drive from Calvinia to Ceres using the backroads via the R355, then onto the gravel road passing through Biedouwvallei pass, Kouberg Pass, Wuppertal, Eselbank pass, Grootrivierhoogte pass, Blinkberg pass, Kalbakkies pass, Peerboomkloof pass and back onto the R355 before Ceres.

Will I be able to drive this with a 4x2 Ford Ranger?

Yes, all very good dirt or tar!

my advice is to deflate to avoid punctures though. I usually run 1.5 bar on the R355

Might run into rough sandy sections at the Doring river going into Biedouw valley. Also Eselbank section got some deep sand.

The R355 gets slippery when wet, as in 'snot glad' after it has rained. Just be aware

This time of the year you will never manage the water crossing at Doring river going into Biedouw valley, not even with a 4x4!

The alternative to crossing Doringrivier is to continue north to Calvinia and come down Botterkloof into Biedouw and onwards to Wuppertal
