    Default Ryobi rg-2000i

Hi guys, just bought this inverter generator for R6450 delivered from 4home.co.za. Seems like a good price.

Was looking at the Honda and Yamaha but they are twice the price!

Would love to get feedback from anyone who has one.

When it breaks (and it WILL break), the Ryobi repair workshop is in Midrand.

Haha, thanks for that. You don't even think it's worth half the price of the Honda or Yamaha equivalent?

no, half price is about equal to Ryobi quality.

I've had a fair amount of Ryobi products: they are cheap for a reason.

By the way, don't expect it to perform as advertised: if it says 2KvA, be happy with 1.5

    I can't talk together because I don't have one.
But I have seen some good youtube reviews.
In Milnerton, Cape Town is also a repair shop.

I have a plain one from Ellies. It is relative new, but I struggle to start it due to same petrol too long in the tank. I have disabled the oil warning censor en just one squirt of carburator cleaner and it started first pull.
Your one will also start easily.

The Ryobi isn't all that cheap if the equivalent Honda/Yamaha is only twice the price. Ryobi's tool engineering is generally borderline rubbish, I would hate to know how badly they build engines. With tools I'll only buy Ryobi if it's not an essential, if the tool itself upon inspection is decent enough and if the price is a third or less than a reputable brand, failing those tests I'd rather pay the extra and get something that could very easily last a lifetime of moderate use.

Suppose if you don't run it hard or for extended periods it should be ok.

I'll post some updates over time once I start using it, someone might find some value in them.

I probably would not have bought it had I asked the forum beforehand, but now that I've paid my cash I hope to get some use out of it. Time will tell.

Many years ago I bought Ryobi Circular Saw. I did about a 300mm cut.
I packed Circular Saw back in its box, and I gave it to my father in law.

I climbed in my car ... cursed myself for my stupidity ... went to makro and I bought the bosch.
All my power tools are bosch (the green casing).
