Midas cheapie one man brake bleeder se fittings werk blykbaar goed. Contraption moet so lyk-

Sterkte.

The vacuum pipes are a definite route to look at.

The pipe that goes to the dizzy, has no effect on idling. So when the engine is idling, there must be no vacuum. The purpose of this pipe is to retard the timing on the dizzy on deceleration. It helps to bring down the backfire on overrun. The engine is then at it's leanest and then needs to be controlled. So if there is a vacuum pipe that goes from the carb to the dizzy, it is probably in the right place. If it is from the manifold to the dizzy, it is wrong.

The Germans were very good at compensating the carb for various cc's as well as varying altitudes. The Golf and the Opel are prime examples. 1 carb that would do duty on various engines and still be optimal at various altitudes.

So yes, make 100% sure the routing on all vacuum lines are correct and that there isn't a little non return valve missing somewhere.

I ask again. What is the max advance on that motor? If the vacuum line is wrong, that advance will be compromised.
The Pinzgauer distributor is a mechanical advance only, that 'vacuum' pipe serves only to extract moisture from the distributor. There is no vacuum canister on the dizzy.

It is a strange setup, and the pipe should be checked, as it might cause a lean idle mix if leaking. There is also a pipe linking both carbs on their respective manifolds (this is under the tinware), this is to strengthen the vacuum strength for the brake boost. It must also be checked for leaks. But I am sure I have mentioned this before in earlier posts.

    Kind regards
    Kevin

If this could go the way it revs at standstill..........damn!!

Are you sure the fuel mixture is 100% correct? Also sounds like your accelerator pump is set incorrectly.

    Alter

I found another mecchie in town......guy works on trucks etc etc.

Sent the Pinz to him out of sheer desperation. One look at the zost smoke and he immediately reckons it must be something to do with overfuelling, must be the accelerator pump/fuel mixture.

    Exaccetly like you think.

I'm sending him those 34 printed comments tomorrow - I actually just finished printing them. He must do this page by page by page.

Read the page. Do what you you have read. Throw away page. Get a new page and start all over again.

    That's ALL that I'm asking.

I had an opel cub with an acclerator pump that was dodgy. It ran rough, ruk en pluk. They bent the arm. I bent it to where I thought it should be and it was sorted

Wel...........hoe se hulle - SLAAT MY MET 'N NAT SNOEK.

Eks eintlik hoogs bedonnerd soos ek hier sit, hoe bly ek ook al is.

Just got a call from Henco to come test the Pinzie. There is a strange problem - Henco took out the air filter element, and that Pinz now pulls like a train. NO smoke, NO stutter, NO nothing. That thing feels like it wants to wheelie.

As soon as the element is back the symptoms return.

I'm VERY stupid with these stuff........but as I understand it, because the engine sort of "starves" air, it's overfuelling, hence that black smoke.

But ja, we got the problem. SMALL thing. After 6 months of standing around, this guy comes and spots the problem within 1 hour.

The Pinzie is with me, I want to clean it up, drive it around town and just sit and look at it over the weekend. Will send it back to Henco on Monday to focus on the problem. Float levels/air fuel mixture stuff.

Also a HUGE thanks to Christo for his advise over the phone., as well as to Rudi and others on this Thread - really too many to mention.
