I think we should get a rating system going.

As an example: A-E (A as very-very rough, E easy)
    1. A => Rough Bush camp, no ablutions, no power, no Hot water (You have to bring everything) ---
    2. B => Rough Bush camp, ablutions, no power , no hot water
    3. C => Rough Bush camp, ablutions, power , no hot water
    4. D => Rough Bush camp, ablutions, power , hot water
    5. E => Normal Caravan Park - It will be noisy as hell

Maybe at secondary rating for you can only get there with your 4x4 (1-5) with 1-normal 4x2, 5 only 4x4 and you'll need Diff-lock

    My Gripe:
We were camping at Mountain Sanctuary this weekend - We went there because they used to be strict on Noise - This weekend there was a group camping that had no respect for the rules (They were partying to the early hours) Nothing was done to them - They did the same the next evening. We could have gone to a normal Caravan park

From Now on I am going to look for as per my Rating (B-4) - Can only get there with the 4x4 and very little infrastructure :-)

Ezemvelo is very nice, just don't leave anything outside your car or tent, apes stole our nik naks... Alot of people complain about the road, but I went there with my old fiesta, no problems. There is a better road will post a screenshot.

Any of the campsites around Britz, Dube, Hartbeeshoek, Drieberge all nice.
Bass Lake also very nice north of Pta.
    Sondela, Mbizi, Mabalingwe around Bela-Bela.
Nobody mentioned Mountain Sanctuary Park, close to Buffelspoort, very nice and a secluded feel with nice hiking trails.
In GP we are spoilt with choice, that's why Brits has traffic jams every Friday afternoon.

How safe is Dube? It's rather close to the outskirts of Garankua.

    This definitely gets my vote!

I'm interested in all the A rating sites and they are not easy to find.

Hey Strangern what is Glamping?? Glamour camping? Following this thread I like the grading proposal. One site that may be a little far is Waterberg Wilderness Game Reserve. Situated about 20 km outside Naboomspruit. Only 4 campsites 2 ablution blocks very quiet. Also try Kazi Mingi between Nylstroom and Naboom. 5 campsites all with electricity. Based on a Macandanian nuts farm. Lovely hosts. First one rated D and second one C

    Update:
Mountain Sanctuary: 2 visits 1st a bad experience with no hot water. 2nd time wished to be better but I was not wowed
Kazi Mingi: 3 visits pleasant and enjoyable every time
WWGR: 2 visits pleasant and quiet. Have not been back yet to the upgrades(additional campsite with its own ablution
Matamba: one visit top notch but a bit far for a weekend. Need 3 nights. Our visit was 10 days an absolute dream
Bush'n Buck Brits one visit but too commercialized
    Thaba Monate Brits same
    Dube very commercialized
There are 4 campsites near Meyerton which all have good reviews but commercialized
Bushbaby near Cullinan sounded good but was disappointing as it is on a small holding. You are a distance away from your nearest neighbour but not "in the bush enough"
My ideal campsite is where I cannot see or hear the neighbours. I can do my own thing to get a shower going and run off batteries. Thus the grading may have to be altered to include "no power, hot water"?
    Cheers

I'd also love to find a 'B-4' site somewhere close to Gauteng. Getting to a place is half the holiday fun for me.

Need to take up Hiking as an activity, as that is what most smaller places offer. 400ha reserves are just too small to drive around on.

Somabula outside Cullinan can also be added. Its on a private game reserve. 3 camp sites.
The rating system needs another category though. No power but with hot water (gas geyser). Which will be more common than the with power but no hot water rating.
    It is easily accessible.
