    Default Namakwa Eco Trail

@pagoo. I think you are referring to the Caracal Trail down the west coast and not the Namakwa Eco trail along the Gariep (Orange) River.

Yes. The Namakwa Eco Trail is possible for a solo vehicle, we just did part one at the beginning of the month, from Pofadder to Vioolsdrift. Drive slowly and enjoy the scenery. At no point did I even need to use low range! Most of the provincial roads are very corrugated.

We spent a week doing this trip solo, Pajero and Echo 4 trailer. Started at Pella, went around the back via Charlie's Pass onto Pella Drift for the first night. Camped in the river bed. The next few days was spent traveling and camping along the river. We used T4A as the route map that we were given required a masters degree to follow. Vehicle with a decent ground clearance will be fine. Somewhere on the forum under my name are some pics. Enjoy!

    Hi Andre
Jy's heeltemal afgesonderd so niemand gaan jou afloer nie.

Good ground clearance, yes! Some parts are sandy and he / she may need a tow. One bad hill on the last day before you hit the N7 that the guys have spun big holes near the top but take it slowly and it can be done. Go google Namakwa Eco trail and click on images to get an idea. Enjoy!

Officially no, although long sections are on public roads and there aren't really anyone policing the route. We were asked for our Permits at Pella only.
