This is why the transporter engine doesn't work in the touareg.

Not the casting for the starter on the touareg block.

Thanks for showing the difference between the two 2.5 motors.

My Transporter smokes under acceleration, but does not use oil between services, what would you think the problem is and what would need to be done to resolve the problem, any advice would be much appreciated.

Could be a number of things.

    Egr valve
    Injectors
    Tandem pump
    Turbo seals
    Boost leak
    Blocked air filter
    Bad MAF sensor
    Bad boost sensor

Have you scanned it with VCDS?

I dont know. They have taken the fuel sample from the garage but Im still waiting for them to collect my sample.

I have everything prepped. I have figured out where the power should go on the in tank pump so as soon as they have the sample I can drain the tank, fit the new filter, prime it and go for a drive with some fresh diesel to see if the car is sorted or not.

If not I hope the sample reflects bad diesel as I'll be claiming for 5 injectors, tandem pump, filter, fuel and labour.

Turbo works hard and gets hot carboning up the seals which cause them to leak. It doesnt take much oil but it can cause smoke.

    Drained the tank today.

There is about 12 liters left in the tank. I didn't want to go all the way as I don't want the pump to run dry.

Make sure the filler cap is loose to allow air in.

There are two ways of doing it.

You can either provide power to the plug under the right rear seat. I didn't like this method as it seems to start pulling air after a few seconds and then you have to wait a while before pumping again.

I don't know why the VCDS didn't do this. Perhaps it activates the the other pump that sends fuel from one side of the other as the fuel tank is a saddle design over the propshaft.

12 volt source on the left, ground on the right. (You use these points to connect jumper cables as well, as the battery sits under the front left seat)

12 volt on the right. Ground on the left

Or you can use VCDS with the intank pump's power plug connected.

    Select Engine
    go to Basic settings
    select group 035
clickthe ON/OFF/NEXT button. The pump will run for 30 seconds. Press the button 3 times again and the pump will run 30 sec again. Repeat.

    In progress

fresh fuel and a new filter.

Took a test drive and the beetle is all good again.

Phew. The stress was getting to me. Glad it's over.

The BP guy took the sample from my car this morning. I should have the results by the end of the week.

A special thanks again to Raymond for offering the very awesome Tuffstuff 4x4 and Lifestyle Insurance Product. Without you and Tuffstuff I shudder to think what my car would have gone through in the hands of someone else. Let's hope this is the last of it for now. The beetle is getting a bad rep and it's not even the car's fault. Bad mechanics, rats and bad fuel is really not needed in this day and age.

Its because of your profile pic , bad omen, change it to a pic where the bonnet is closed , that should solve it.

    Im not superstitious. (;

I believe in karma though. Just trying to figure out what I did wrong, but I like to look at it as school fees for when I hopefully open my own workshop one day.
