Well luckily all the Treg misfortune is happening to someone who can help themselves. Unbelievable how much trouble you have now had in total.

Perhaps that connector got damaged during the major surgery?

Jip. All my cars have had gremlins. I must have some spell on me.

The connector didn't get damaged in the transplant. I had to butcher the connector open to see which wire goes where (i dont trust colour coding as sensors may be made by someone else) and saw that it was a manufacturing flaw. Two wires where connecting intermittently inside the moulded plastic casing. The age of the plastic made it become brittle and allowed the two wires to touch. One in a million? Count on me to get that one.

Why couldn't i find the one in a million lotto ticket?

so in the end I'm home and trying to look at the positive side of things I have realised that other than the engine transplant, all other stuff has been small and not majorly expensive likemost people believe of a touareg.

It sounds like a lot because I share everything on this thread but it is to be expected from any car this age.

All in I'm still just under R200k for a well sorted car by now that gives great comfort, safety, economy and driving pleasure.

Yes it's been bumpy and inconvenient at times but all in it's actually not that bad and I learned a hell of a lot that can't be measured in rands.

Here's to the next chapter that is hopefully not too soon!

Its not how you stand by your car, it's how you race your car.

He's not a racer but I don't know of any 2.5 diesel that will keep up with me.

I even left a hilux 3.0 D4D behind going up Hobb's hill just outside cathcart.

Well done being faster than any Hilux.

My post was actually a tag line from F&F but I guess my Vin Diesel voice gets lost when typed.

Congrats with your article, it's not everyday that an engine transplant gets published in the print media. You can be proud of a job well done.

Jip. It's been reliable since the transplant but external factors are still bugging me. Rats and manufacturing faults on attaching parts are not helping.

Times like these I miss my pajero. It had it's own issues but way less than the beetle.

I must be an attraction to car demons. All the cars I ever had gave me issues.

I call it school fees. Now just to put that schooling to use and start earning some proper bucks.

Just a little bit, all vehicles have their ups and downs.
My 2.5DTi Ford broke the 4th gear in December 2013 (not 5th like normal) on 98 000km.
Ford decide to replace with brandnew box (it is 3 days out of warrenty and they did not argue or blink a eye) but I have to pay for labour. That was the Wednesday and next Friday I am on leave down to Kaapstad for 4 weeks.
On the Tuesday 17 Dec job was done and clutch replacement R4 500 later.

Down in Paarl, gearbox leaks with 4 000km on.
Back in Pinetown, Ford will tackel the box next Friday and fix (now 6 000km later).

Pity we had not know about this earlier - would have been nice to have met up with you, doing this from Dubai would tend to be somewhat problematic though

Electrical failure on injector 3. Stuck in Caledon.

Awaiting TuffStuff to sort out a rental.

A bit disappointed that I have to Pay in on the flatbed as TuffStuff does not cover it fully.

Die enigste hulp wat ek dalk mag vra is om die kar op die flatbed te kry want ek wil graag ry as die rental hier aankom. Ek moet nog Oos London toe.

Sal laat weet. PM my jou nommer asb.

    Vreeslik dankie vir die offer.
