Its wet weight is 2.3 ton. I spent most of the trip at 122km/h gps speed on cruise control. (130km/h on the clocks)

That's 300 more than the Kombi. Damn, that's good for a permanent AWD heavyweight.

The amazing thing is that I filled up in Winburg and from Winburg to PTA I averaged 8.0l/100km when cruising at 122 on GPS on cruise control.

    Auto leveling and comfort suspension.

And that's with my new tyres which are AT tyres which should theoretically add to consumption.

Tyre pressures at the recommended 2.5 bar frot and 2.6 rear. If I go up to 3 bar i may get even better.

Glad your Treg is running so nicely after all it's been through.

    Me too.

I must say, im enjoying the GP circles. You guys know how they work. EC'ers have no idea!

The highways are intimidating though. So many cars are madness. Dont know how you guys deal with rush hour traffic. If I do decide to open a workshop here it will be an at-home shop. The traffic will kill me.

I take it you guys are used to the dry air here..... My nose is very itchy burny!

    107 is the moving average.

85 percent of the route back was done with cruise control on 120km/h GPS speed. (130 on the clocks)

    As a side note

My car hasn't used a drop of oil in the last 5000km of Fuchs 505.01 5w-40.

And even though my EGR is connected back up, my intake shows no sign of carbon gunk that the R5 is famous for...... could be the 2SO that prevents the deposits

Marius, do you have a contact at Fuchs that sold you the oil? I emailed their general contact address this morning, but have not heard back from them.

My local Goldwagen, Midas and Autozone only stock 505.00. Will see what the local VW uses, but I think I'll just order Fuchs to be safe.

The rep at Fuchs in Isando only works at the office after 12, so ring them then, can't remember his name. I paid 1200 and some change for 20 x 1l of the titan gt1, which is a 505.01 oil. They didn't have other sizes, but the 1l bottles are handy.

I dealt with him and him only. He was quite happy to deal with me and he shipped to East London.

For the first time since owning the car I started it at sub 7 degrees temperature yesterday morning and glad to say my webasto heater is working perfectly. Engine coolant was at 90 degrees within 3 km of easy driving.

You can see the heater working by looking under the passenger door for a slight puff of exhaust from the heater. The operation however is silent and not audible over the engine.
