If the reports from the original VW dealer and the indy's that checked it out shows a clean bill of health, Marius will obviously not have a claim, but unless he lodges one, this may never be disclosed.

I'm not saying that the seller must just cough up, guys. All I'm saying is that the CPA is there and Marius should make use of it - win or lose.

I'm awaiting the inspection reports. Any contradictory finds and I win

If everything checks out then I just have the tiny warranty to fall back on.

    LOL

I would assume the VW dealer, at least, will have proper diagnostic reports, including compression tests.

Do you really think they do diagnostic reports and compression tests on every vehicle before they sell it?

    I highly doubt it.

Good luck Marius, I really hope this thing gets sorted 100% by VW and your warranty

the gunk on the injector tips led me to believe that the gunk on the rings were keeping compression and making it intermittent.

My long distance driving probably cleared the rings of gunk that kept the compression moderately.

    The plot thickens as well.

VW East London says that the engine need to go to Tavcor PE as they (EL) don't have the necessary equipment to strip the engine.

    You did

I'm just concerned that they may blame the use of 2SO for the damage, if they have a policy AGAINST the use.

On VW diesels a faulty injector often cause a vibration, sometimes to the extend that one would think an engine mounting or wheel balancing is the problem. Very weird feeling.

My take on this is that an injector started to fail, caused overfueling and that let to the piston seizing in the bore causing low compression. Hope I'm wrong but have seen it more than once.
I'm not arguing, I'm just explaining why I'm right!

I'm not saying it is the cause, Marius, but a dealer in a bind, could use anything to get out paying big bucks. Must be the cynic in me, but I don't trust any dealer workshop.

my initial thought was an injector, however a compression test revealed very low compression on cylinder no5

    sorry, missed that part.

Looks more and more like I have to find R60k for an engine from remtech and do the swap DIY.

At least you guys will get a build thread that hasn't been documented online before.

Problem is to find the R60k.... Eish.

I'll have a venter trailer, quad bike in the classifieds soon to help fund the engine.
