Cool, also position mine in there, have not run a wire though. Where did you take the supply from?

The cigarette end of the charger is in the right side fuse panel. Will look for an ignition positive feed tomorrow.

This how mine looks like with DIY AUX plug for iPod.

I would like this unit, but it is a bit pricey (350 USD and 99 USD shipping).

Very cool. What all does that unit do? Any idea what navigation it uses?

Any URL's which point to it?

As far as I know, that unit is running a Windows CE operating system, so there should be a decent amount of variety when it comes to applications that can run on it

My CASKA also runs CE (Chinese version), have tried to get into it, - associated with allot of risk in regard to the firmware for the unit, so I backed off again. If I could get the Garmin Nuvi software running on there, I would be very happy.

The above is not compatible with RNS Satnav systems.
There is a model which only plugs into AUX wich looks exactly the same and is allot cheaper, but I can't find it in my bookmarks....

tonight the boost pipes went into the dishwasher and, choosing the best o-rings from old and donor engine, re-assembled everything.

PS : Take care of the o-rings as the dealer wants almost R50.00 each for the o-rings.

    Dishwasher..seriously...
I've heard that people do this, but never thought they were serious.

Where do SWAMBO do the dishes then; in the wash tray in garage with engine cleaner...

VW is crazy expensive with everything e.g. bonnet liner clips R20 each...
These generic clips are used on every VW model since I can remember.

jip. Dishwasher works great for cleaning stuff. The oil however is obviously of a great nature as even the "intensive" cycle didn't get all the oil off, so a final wipe with some paper towel saw them nice and clean.

I then used some more paper towel to wipe all the receiving pipes in the engine bay clean so I can have a good sealing surface.

I installed them by pushing in the metal clips and only then pushing in the boost pipes until I hear them click in solid.

My SWAMBO will KILL me; she does not even allow me to wash my oil/grease hand in the kitchen at all...

I tried the "women sometimes finds grease monkeys attractive/appealing" approach, but eish! I got that SWAMBO angry look...

Awesome, slowly but surely that whole R5 is being rebuilt. Eish admire the time you have disposable to do all these things.

I did secretly once and showed her that it doesn't dirty the machine. After that she was fine with it.

    After hours jobs.

Besides, this one was a 10 minute removal, 2 hour wash cycle, 5 minutes choosing the best orings and another 10 minutes reinstall.

Hi all at last The baby is running, no vibration, replaced the dual mass flywheel (cause of vibration), oil pump (no oil pressure alarm anymore). I must say it feels as though as there is more power than before the failure, even though i am not pushing it, it feels stronger.

Only outstanding thing now is that both fans are running, even on cold start.
Made booking at auto electrician to have a look, coming Moday (suspect temp sensors?)

Also noted that booster pipe connecting to inlet manifold (same as picture from Maruis) only clips in place, on one side. The "lippie" that hooks behind clip is worn, so after some engin running connection is not secure, no air blowing out at this stage. To be replaced

Using 505.01 oil (5W30) car is now on km213400 plan on doing first oil change at km215000, other "maybe" concern is that on the first cold start, there is alot of blue smoke for a few seconds then its gone for whole day till the first start tomoro.

I am now monitoring oil consumption.

I am going to the enginering shop to confirm what was done on the head, valve stem seals etc. For they should have serviced the head, for on the invoice there was only R1200 charged for things done on head mostly valves and guides, skimming etc, and i remember normally for ford 160i cost to service head was R3000 (5 years ago).

I asked them to service the head...

My 3 kids are glad car is back, for we used the BMW 120D to go anywhere, although very nice drive it is a bit cramped at the rear. It has km265000 on the clock and still no smoke
