Picked up the platinum (or so it seems when you see what it costs) manifold and gaskets today.

Its a transporter one so the egr will have to be completely deleted.

    Started assembling tonight

Fixed a few connectors and deleted the egr cooler as well as the egr was blanked. Why risk the cooler failing.

Some plastic bits were brittle and replaced with copper pipes that i flanged.

This is why touaregs are hard to kill and rack up big mileage

If the coolant or oil is low/too hot, you get a loud beep and a warning on the MFD.

    Test drive revealed no leaks.

It was a time consuming job due to some amendments but it wasn't too difficult.

No. All vacuum operated. Old style.

Only way it can perhaps tell is via the MAF.

The egr valve has been blanked off for years. I just deleted the cooler now to prevent a future leak. Preventative maintenance and regular services is the key to longevity in my eyes. If you stay on top of things then you don't get once off big bills when it all goes to pot.

I pulled dad's 2006 v10 vacuum pipes to the two egr valves and blanked with golf tees to stop them operating.

His ecu hasn't complained either. Not even via VCDS scans.

I was wondering about this, can you just unplug the 2 vacuum solenoid valves that control the EGR?

Yes. Remember to plug the pipes with a small screw or golf tee

No, I mean just unplugging the connectors from the solenoids so they cannot open, instead of unplugging pipes.

Dad's v10 is purely mechanical with no electrical bits attached.

No, there are 2 N18 valves controlling the vacuum to the EGR, one on either side of the engine. I was referring to unplugging them instead of disconnecting the vacuum pipes from the EGR

    Look something like this.

    Look something like this.

ECU might see resistance change on the circuit. I would just pull and blank the vacuum tubes. Takes 60 seconds.

Did dad's one months ago and he hasn't had any lights come on or issues.
