    310'000km service done and dusted.

    Report
    - 2so used every tank
    - average economy 11.8l/100km (including offroad excursions and towing etc.)
    - injector readings all within +/- 0.45 (+/- 1.6 is deemed out of spec)
    - zero oil used between services
    - coolant still perfect as well
    - failures : crank sensor and left rear wheel speed sensor.

If fuel consumption is not really an issue, stick to the V8. Probably one of the best v8 engines ever made!

They use derivatives of it in the..

    Audi R8
    Audi RS4
    Phaeton
    Bentley Continental
    Cayenne
    Touareg
    Audi Q7

Is that video a toureg? The climb from 0-100 seems instantaneous!
Re the service. One always wonders if they are putting the right fluids in the right places when one drops it off at a dealer.
Perhaps that is why yours is reaching 300k plus without using oil.
I am never sure how much to trust the dealers when they are at work. I think their overheads are too high to give each vehicle a proper once over. They just need to sausage factory them out and invoice as quickly as possible. And then if anything expensive goes bang, you carry the can since it will probably happen out of warrantee.
One major issue with modern complex living is that you are not able to do this sort of thing at home in most of them.

Yes. That is a 6.0 w12 petrol engine in that touareg.

They use it in the bentley as well

As for the dealers, the only time they see me is for parts I can't source elsewhere.....and then I usually go to the audi or porsche dealership first as they are cheaper than VW most of the time.

Have you ever seen the q7 v12 tdi?

The longer I drive my Treg, the more I like that display. It make Swambo's Disco 4's look like something from the 70's.

To fix that double post of pictures and videos Marius...
Go to edit mode for the message and then just save. Don't type anything. Then the second media will be removed.

Touareg swaybar bushes tired. I drive a LOT of gravel. These Febi bushes lasted a mere 18 months or so.

Decided to go redneck. Wrapped the swaybar with an old timing belt and reinstalled the slightly worn bushes.

Tight and stiff like a new one again. I hope it's the source of that rebound clunk I have been hearing lately over rough surfaces.

New upper left control arm. The balljoint had play on closer inspection.

    R1830 later

    Tools
    - jack, wheel chocks and jack stand
    - 21mm, 18mm, 16mm 10mm sockets and spanners

NB : remember to put air suspension in jack mode before starting

    - wheel off and car on jack stands (chock the wheels)
    - separate upper balljoint from knuckle
    - separate lower control arm from strut
    - remove lower stabilizer link bolt
    - remove three strut brace bolts in engine compartment (one is in the rain tray)
    - remove the ride height sensor
    - mark angle of old control arm to strut brace
    - wiggle strut to get access to the two bolts that hold the upper control arm to the strut race and remove the bolts

    - ala haynes manual, reassemble in reverse order taking note of the control arm angle to the strut brace
    - tighten the strut bolt to the final torque setting only once the car is resting on it's own weight.
