Can you give me some clues as to the best way to route the cabling on the outside of the vehicle, as you did on yours?

Stuck in office. Can't check now but I recall running it between fuel tank and it's cover, cable tying it to to the fuel tank cover brackets.

Will try to get some pictures for you later on.

    Sorry. Lots going on.

One pictures shows cables coming out of the battery box. The other shows the left rear control arm.

Once you just get going it becomes easier. Sorry for the crappy pics. If you need better ones I can maybe make a video of the routing.

So you had to make holes from the front battery and then again at the rear. In the battery box in front, where did you place those holes?

Yes, I had to make holes in the battery box. For my rear battery I just removed some of those plastic bungs.

I'm putting a marine type switch by the front battery. Better to put that before or after the fuse?

Edit: has to be after if I use the Treg's fuse facility

Fuse as close as possible to the battery. One at main battery AND one at aux battery.

Awesome roadtrip yesterday. Always a pleasure with a touareg.
9l/100km. And that with larger tyres and full size spare on the roof. Not bad for an 11 year old car.

Kortgat you have the same Touareg as mine 2007and I ran my cable inside the car. See the full thread , Search Volkswagen Brad Harris.

"I am not sure if the R5 has the channel.
The V6 channel runs from the spare wheel well on the left side and goes under the back seat and foot well and then under the front seat to the battery. In some places it has plastic ducts/covers.
This channel is inside the car.
I hope you can find it."

    Cheers

Hi Doug. Thank you. I did find that channel, but still opted for the under vehicle method as my primary reason is a brad Harris plug at the tow bar. So was easier and safer to take the wiring underneath. I'll post some pictures of my install.

I want to add a BH plug to the V10, can I connect to the rear battery or should I use the front one? I remember reading that the rear battery is charged in 20min intervals so I'm a bit worried about the possibility of draining the rear battery.

The rear battery is the starter battery in the v10 so use the front battery rather
