    That oil looks fantastic!

Had a refrigerant leak on my aircon (took 2 years to become a problem). Took it to Auto Air in Boksburg, brilliant service, done in a day. Tiny leak was at the filler valve for the system. Can really recommend them for vehicle aircon related work.

They will give you a new spraypaint.

Powels did that with an older couple that hit 1 000 000km on their 2003 Polo.

R 1 200.00, leak detection, replaced the filler valve, evacuated the system and recharged. Seems fair.

This beauty was on special at Midas for R695

Pumps my 265/65/17 tyre from 2.5 to 3 bar in 60 seconds and never sounds like it's struggling.

Comes with a nice canvas bag as well.

So do you use the on board compressor with the pipe supplied?

I used to use it. Not anymore. I got the midas compressor as I dont like working the onboard that hard.

Just make sure the filters are good.

The "rings" are plastic/nylon and the sleeves are aluminium.

We had to replace our aircon fan as well.

Thought the fan will now cool the car rapidly, but it's not the case. Still the same speed of cooling as previously (when we thought the old fan was busy failing)...

With the leak fixed, is the aircon cooling quicker, Kortgat? Or what should one do to cool the car faster?

It cools noticeably better with the refrigerant at the right level. If your refrigerant is low, the aircon will cut out enitrely (on the V6 TDI anyway), unless that sensor has been overriden.

Your issue sounds more like a dirty pollen filter to me. Repalce it, makes a huge difference to teh air throughput.

I will inspect. It had a service not too long ago. Maybe it was not replaced.

    Thanks

agree, most likely culprit. when filter gets clogged it happens very quickly and the airflow goes to zero almost overnight. Pull out the filter and see if the airflow improves.

could also be the fan itself, mine started acting up but fixed it by removing it and giving it a generous spray with electrical contact cleaner.

Will give you feedback. Thanks. Will clean the fan as well.

Even with bigger tyres and a full size spare on the roof, this 2.5 tonne behemoth can be economical.

What distance did you travel, and how much was in town? I did about 35km with about 5km in town robot to robot and I got 9.4l/100km going and 9.9 returning. On highway I was doing 110km/hr

    Thats amazing.

I moved my son to pretoria today from Johannesburg. With a small trailer with a queen size bed on it and a cabin full of stuff, I did 8.2l/100km average over 65km witn about 7km of town riding. I was doing 105km/h on highway. Amazing!

I did learn one thing though. Coming back with empty trailer without cover I averaged 9.8l/100km. Wind resistance!

There is no doubt this is an amazing vehicle.

By the way Marius, what are the normal size tyres?

My R5 came with Hankook Dynapro ATM P265/65/17 110T.

Is that the normal size tyre?

Of course, I don't have a full size spare on the roof.

    Thanks
