Ja, nee kyk. Daar is nie spasie vir 'n muis in 'n V10 engine bay nie.

Prepping for the 300'000km service. Shell hx7 av was more than R1000 for 10 liters so I went with Fuchs at R600 for 10 liters and it also complies to 505.01 spec.

    Filters from Goldwagen.

Your Goldwagen definitely beats the one in Somerset West. They only stock Citi Golf parts

So hopefully you have a spare liter of "mond-spoel" for the filter housing and tappet cover

The catch can is actually a water filter but made entirely out of plastic including the filter screen. It manages to trap the oil without degrading the plastic. I have had it in the car now for about 2 years and it is still in good condition.

The oil clings to the filter screen and collects at the bottom and the crankcase ventilation goes back to the intake.

I drain about 150ml every 5'000km from it.

The filter can be had from any co-operation or hardware store selling water pumps and filters etc.

I am probably quite slow on the uptake here....

Where does the other side of the catch can go to? I see seems to disappear into the left front light area.

Does the mod require extra pipe?

sorry if I am being dof!

Nope. Nothing extra required. Immediately after the can the pcv pipe goes down and enters the big intake pipe that feeds the turbo inlet.

Just did the service. I need to get those specialised tools that operate the VW spring clamps (diesel filter clamp is a PITA without one)

    Top one

As soon as I finished the service and start the car the MFI says "service in 3000km"

    Like this (not my picture)

So I checked via VCDS - 11600 since last service

    like this (not my picture)

Clicked the SRI reset on VCDS version 15 and it goes into a few automated resets.

Job done. Took about 30 minutes to do oil air and diesel filter change. It's a lot easier now with not having to drop a sump guard (built in access hole) anymore.

I will keep an eye on the oil (Fuchs GT1) and see if it stays clean for as long as the shell helix HX7 AV did.
