Would checking this pipe be a way of assessing if there is a problem with low compression on one or more cylinders?
Best test is an injector reading via vcds.

Had a scare today. Heard a weird noise in the dash when accelerating and braking. Turned out to be a loose speaker but back to the story....

I suspected water in the bulkhead so pulled the wheel liner to find I already pulled the drain plug last time. Then I heard a hiss. Checked the tyre, nothing.

Then checked the connector where the airline comes in. Spray some soap.... Bubbles. Daaaaammmn!

When I wash I usually follow up with a squirt of q20 in that area so it cant be corrosion.

Cleaned the area, backed off the connector a quarter turn and tightened a quarter turn plus a tenth of a turn. Job done. No more leaks. That was a close call scare. Joh!

The after test. No more bubbles

You need a special tool to turn that connector. The nut just keeps the pipe in, it is separate to the connector. Do t tighten via that nut, you will strip it.

You can see the teeth marks where I used waterpump pliers to nip the connector tight.

Glad it's nothing. The guys that did the 'refurb' on mine simply used a vice grip on that pressure retention valve.

There was no water. It was a loose speaker in the dash that sounded like water.

So what caused the leak? IS there an o-ring on that connector?

I haven't removed one yet. I suspect it is just a tapered thread that seals it.

A bushbuck ran into the side of the car last night. No damage at all. Just a wipe of the dust. I stopped to check on the bush buck but he must have been ok. He was nowhere to be found.

This is my catch can setup - very simple very easy. Excuse the dirty engine bay. I drive a lot of gravel.

The catch can is actually a water filter but made entirely out of plastic including the filter screen. It manages to trap the oil without degrading the plastic. I have had it in the car now for about 2 years and it is still in good condition.

The oil clings to the filter screen and collects at the bottom and the crankcase ventilation goes back to the intake.

I drain about 150ml every 5'000km from it.

The filter can be had from any co-operation or hardware store selling water pumps and filters etc.
