I'm guilty of never using the handbrake. I just leave it in park and on hill starts the car has an anti roll back feature that is a physical design in the gearbox.

Just be careful with the Toureg where you cross the tracks coming across, your bottom plastic covers might not survive.

It isn't as easy as it looks though. In this video you should be able to see a nasty bump in the dip at around 0:5 to 0:8 seconds. IFS suffers badly there. You can't be hard on the power there so you are unable to use as many horses as you'd like all the way through the obstacle. About 2/3 way up is usually where diesels usually make it to. Note my throttle control at the crest to lift the revs. Diesels can't do that :-).

I'd love to try that. Very lucky there in the cape to have this playground.

The passenger door opener was a bit sticky to my liking. Fearing the cable being frayed I took the door card off today.

After stripping, I couldn't see anything wrong. Thinking a disassemble and reassemble will fix it (which happens sometimes) I put everything back.

The insulation is pretty awesome. No wonder it's so quiet inside. The lack of dust is also unbelievable given the amount of gravel I do

Still the same stickiness. I had a closer look and squirted some silicone spray here and the stickiness is gone.

Sometimes a little lube goes a long way 😉

But what's that piece of dead tree attached to the door panel 😷

    Hehe I know.

It's just one of my pet hates, wood on the dash. If it's not a vintage Rolls, I honestly don't see why it's necessary.

Wood on the dash is minimal and not that bad. As long as there isn't wood on the steering wheel Im OK with it.

Marius, your beetle is fixed now, you must stop looking for stuff to fix. If you want a new project, go buy Pierre's GWM, that will keep you busy for a while. Die volla is nou reg, los hom nou uit!

I'm pretty happy with the sound. I enjoy good music but the powerful systems on loud hurt my ears and give me a headache.

Marius, you have too much time (I envy that). You need to have kids, garden, Joburg traffic etc., then there is no more spare time to take out door panels.
