I have sent the dealer a mail with my pajero's finance status to see what deal he can work for me.

Dad's V10 is approaching 300'000km with minimal maintenance if looked after so I'm convinced the Touaregs are reliable and it can't need more maintenance than my pajero anyway so let's see. I may have to ask someone in Richardsbay to have a look at it for me if the deal looks good or I'll have to drive there myself.

That one will have low range and centre diff lock. Do you know if it has the rear diff lock which was an optional extra.

I had one like that for 5 years so I know them pretty well.

Maybe he can bring it to me or meet me halfway?

Go there. Kick the tyres. Take it for a spin. R150K is a lot of money, if you still need to spend money on top of that....

    Marius,

This is not a "to tinker with" car. I LUV those Tregs, but make sure you have an old Pajero on the property to experiment with. Then keep the Treg totally assembled, while you tinker with the Pajero.

hehe. I will only go for it if it's in pristine condition. I promised myself the next car I buy must be in good condition so I can enjoy it rather than tinker.

There is enough here on the farm to keep me busy.

I'm very tempted with the treg but I know the pajero so well now and feel confident I can repair it come what may. The treg is probably just as easy to work on mechanically but the electrics is a whole different ball game and I'm not keen on getting all the tools for it.

On the other hand most report that it is a reliable car and minimal maintenance is needed so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I'll see what happens when the dealer lets me know what finance options are available and see if it's worth it.

Well that is why I have the Golf.

I cut out the CAT, but that is it. I just use it and feed it....

Do it, you know you want to

I have mine for a month and 1/2 and still get excited when I have to drive some where. The comfort is great and the power is something different from a 2l petrol sedan.
Check the car out or have someone check it for you and make sure that everything works, especially the air suspension, and if all looks good buy it. You won't go wrong.

    2005 EGG

    Look out for

Faulty wiperbaldes, they should have been upgraded to the ones with a B suffix. (Factory fault with an internation TSB that VW SA sidestep and dont recognise)

TPM system not workin, erratic, false alarms (nothing you can do, just live with it.)

Aircon very poor and misting up windscreen. (Factory fault with an internation TSB that VW SA sidestep and dont recognise)

Soft touch interior shows marks very badly if not looked after. Shows wear marks on or near most buttons.

Check Tyre Pump - the internal spare is a flat collapsable jobby you need to inflate.

Apart from normal maintenance items those are the only things I can think of.

mmmmm. Dealer is only offering me R70k on the pajero. I don't think so!

The idea I had was to keep my monthly installments the same but start a fresh 54 or 60 month term.

The only way I can do that by my quick calculations is if I get R115'000 for my pajero.

So I guess I'll pass on the treg even though it looks nice from the additional photos he sent me..... unless someone wants to make me an offer for my red beast!

dealer is trying to work a deal for me...

If he manages then I just need to look at the car to see if I'll take it.

How about this one? Don't know about the other specs, but the difference of R20,000 for 75,000 does not seem stiff. I also prefer black leather.
