    Default Gen3 Pajero Survives 6-car pile-up

One of our Resident Engineers drive a 3.8 V6 Gen3 Pajero.
This morning he was involved in a chain accident in the fog.
A truck lost control and overturned, blocking the entire road.
The Pajero was 1st on the scene and stopped safely, just short of the tow bars etc strewn across the road.

A Toyota Tazz drove into the back of the Pajero.
The next moment a E-Class Merc slammed into the back of the Tazz. The impact was so great that the Benz went underneath the Tazz and flung it about 5m away from the Pajero. (Note the blue paint on the Pajero's spare wheel!).
The Benz carried on and slammed into the back of the Pajero.

    • Tazz (blue) - Total write-off
    • E-Class MB - most probably a write-off
    • Pajero - Bumper, light clusters and rear door damage, but drove away from the accident scene.
    Notes:
    • nobody was seriously injured, although the driver of the truck was taken to hospital for observation
    • Mercedes's air-bags did not deploy!
    • the N6 was closed for more than 5-hours in both directions

Wow! It certainly looks as though the Gen3's monocoque shell is pretty sturdy.

By the way, Gerhard, the Paj is a pre 2003 model so is probably a 3.5 V6?

WOW - That looks like it could have turned much uglier than it did with all that steel lying around!

By the way while we are nitpicking, judging by the silver surrounds on the Pajero rear lights it is a 2002 model to be exact! And thus a 3.5Petrol as Gerrit said.
