Default Centurion D5 gate motor problems

    Hey guys,

    I'm hoping someone can help.
We have a Centurion D5 gate, which stopped working properly.
I replaced the battery and it worked for about 2 weeks, then stopped working again.

I've checked the battery and charger and they are 100%.
Pressing the test button results in a relay click and 5 led flashes.
I connected the motor directly to the battery and it runs fine, voltage doesn't drop more than expected.
I took the circuit board into a specialist who ran a bench test and confirms the PCB is fine.
I did a factory reset, with no luck. I tried setting the gate limits with the automatic programming mode, but again the relay clicks and the LED flashes 5 times. He now wants me to bring in the complete unit, which is a schlep.

Theres a thing called a DOS connected to the PCB which keeps track of the gate position or something. Could this be defective and causing the problem?

    - mod please move to the PUB section, I posted in the wrong section -

Nope definitely no LCD. So it must be an older one.

Sounds like a loose connection. Check your terminals on the battery, check where the battery and motor wires goes onto the PC board that it's tight check the 16 A fuse next to the relay's with a multimeter and also remove the fuse while testing and before replacing the fuse bend the fuse holder close so that the fuse makes good contact.

    Hope this helps

Mine did exactly the same.I replaced the small black box with the "tube" that slots in on the side of the motor wher the gate is..Think it is the dos sensor. Was R300 all and all.Fixed.

The 5 flashes = Micro processor reset.

Call Centurion on 011 699-2400. Never had that problem before.

    10 points for being correct!!

I HAD checked voltages, fuses and everything the local centurion dude recommended. BUT I had assumed good voltage means a good connection.
The local dude took one look at a corroded battery lead and said...theres the problem. After replacing it it worked!

I felt a bit stoopid Lesson learnt, corroded connections are bad. And voltage alone is not a good test. Amperage cannot effectively pass through a bad connection.
