Default Fortuner Handling on Gravel

Dear all,
Tyres have been replaced by Toyota SA and I gave them back the Grabbers. See their notice on PDF attached. Allthough they have given reimbursement on the tyres, a form had to be signed about the tyres, stating you will not claim against Toyota SA regarding the tyre issue, may something happen.

What feedback was given to other Fortuner owners claiming unstability of the vehicle? It is therefore clear as mentioned in other posts, that not only the tyres are to be blamed.

See letter of another Fortuner owner who allready changed his tyres, that sent a letter to Toyota SA.

Dear Gugu

I'm not inclined to spend time and energy on having my car tested, but thanks for the offer all the same.

What I would like to convey to Toyota SA is that there is clearly an escalating problem that will cost Toyota dearly if it doesn't act swiftly and decisively.

I'd like to refer you to letters in the July and August issues of Wegry magazine amongst others.

Speak to guys like Hannes Pretorius <marcor@icon.co.za>

It is clear to me that at least some Fortuners are fitted with inadequate/faulty suspension components. I doubt that it is tyres. I had BF Goodridge tyres fitted by the dealer when I bought it in Oct 06, and I experience exactly the problem described in the magazines and websites by owners of Fortuners with General Grabbers. Note that it is a completely separate issue from the towing stability debate which has been ongoing.

Gugu, this has already killed many people and will continue killing people until Toyota acts. Do so now, and let's not throw Toyota's name to the dogs. Already many people who see my car mention the "rear suspension problem". I hate to think what this will be doing to Fortuner sales. Please investigate and rectify, and don't let more people be killed.

Regards
Herbert Smith
